Instructors: Natasha Williams & Trizanne Barnard
Get ready for a South African Wine Safari! On Monday, May 12, we are thrilled to open our doors at Tria Wash West to the fabulous Natasha Williams of Lelie Van Saron and Trizanne Barnard of Trizzanne Wine.
South African wines have become widely available stateside only in the last decade. Is South Africa the oldest New World wine country, or is it the newest Old World wine country? Either way, the wines straddle both worlds, melding the elegance of France with boldness of Australia and the United States.
Discover Natasha Williams' remarkable and unconventional path into the world of winemaking. Raised in a small Swartland town with no early exposure to wine, she rose to become the head winemaker at Bosman Family Vineyards before launching her own label. Her work centers around Chardonnay and Syrah, and she’s recently expanded her lineup with two wines under the label "Jade"—a red blend and a Pet-Nat, with a little more playfullness and experimentation.
Trizanne Bernard's label is all about energetic white wines that celebrate South Africa's cool climate areas. Her worldly experience in winemaking started with vintages in Australia, France and Portugal, before returning to South Africa to work at Anwilka. Along with being a winemaker and a mother, Trizanne is an avid surfer. With a focus on Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blends, her wine captures the fresh, mineral flavors of the Atlantic Ocean where she enjoys spending time.
As always, tasty Tria snacks will be served, and we encourage you to join us for Tria's Happier Hour from 4 to 6 pm before class!
Bottles will be available for sale after the class.
